Product Overview

What Is White Masterbatch?

White Masterbatch is a highly concentrated dispersion of Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) pigment in a polyolefin carrier resin. It is the most widely used colour masterbatch in India's plastic processing industry — added to base resin to deliver brilliant whiteness, high opacity (light-blocking), and UV barrier properties in finished plastic products, all in one pelletised, easy-to-dose additive.

The optical performance of a white masterbatch is determined by three factors: TiO₂ grade (Rutile vs Anatase), TiO₂ loading percentage, and quality of TiO₂ dispersion within the carrier. CHEMICALLANE uses surface-treated Rutile-grade TiO₂ — the industry standard for maximum opacity and UV durability — and compounds it to 40–70% loading using high-shear twin-screw extrusion for complete, agglomeration-free pigment dispersion.

Unlike raw TiO₂ powder — which is dusty, difficult to handle, and prone to agglomeration — our masterbatch delivers pre-dispersed pigment in uniform pellet form. The result is consistent whiteness and opacity across every kg of product you run, without streaks, grey patches, or the die buildup that raw TiO₂ powder causes at high processing temperatures.

Active Pigment: TiO₂ (Rutile) · Loading: 40–70% · Whiteness Index: ≥ 95%
Brilliant Whiteness ≥ 95%

Rutile TiO₂ delivers a clean, neutral white with whiteness index ≥ 95% — no yellowish or greyish cast. Consistent across every batch for colour-matched production runs.

Superior Opacity

High TiO₂ loading delivers maximum light-scattering and opacity — essential for packaging films requiring print contrast, product concealment, and light-barrier properties.

Built-In UV Protection

Rutile TiO₂ absorbs and reflects UV radiation — providing inherent UV barrier in outdoor packaging, agricultural films, pipes, and products requiring weathering resistance.

3 Grades — One Supplier

TiO₂ Grade
Rutile

Rutile TiO₂ delivers 30% higher refractive index and superior UV resistance versus Anatase — the industry standard for durable white plastic products.

Whiteness Index
≥ 95%

Bright, neutral white — no yellow or grey cast. Verified on every batch with spectrophotometer measurement before dispatch.

Heat Stability
Up to 280°C

No yellowing or colour shift at high processing temperatures — critical for engineering polymer blends and multi-layer film structures.

Dosage Range
2–8%

Low addition rate achieves full whiteness and opacity — exact dosage depends on TiO₂ loading grade, wall thickness, and target opacity.

Rutile vs Anatase TiO₂
Rutile Standard — Anatase Available on Request

Our standard grade uses Rutile TiO₂ (refractive index 2.73) for maximum opacity and UV stability. Anatase TiO₂ (refractive index 2.55) is available on request where higher blue-white brightness is prioritised over UV durability — for example, in indoor packaging or stationery applications.

Dosage Guide

Recommended Dosage by Grade & Application

White masterbatch dosage depends on three variables: which TiO₂ loading grade you are using, the wall thickness of your product, and the opacity level your application requires. Thinner walls and higher opacity demands require higher dosage — or a higher-loading grade.

A practical starting point: use the High Opacity grade (55–65% TiO₂) at 4% dosage and adjust up or down based on opacity measurement or visual approval against your reference standard.

Get Custom Dosage Recommendation
PP Woven Sacks & FIBC (Standard Grade 40–50% TiO₂)
4–6%
Sufficient opacity for white woven sack fabric and FIBC — good print contrast for branding without over-loading the compound.
Blown Film — Food & FMCG Packaging (High Opacity Grade)
3–6%
Higher TiO₂ loading allows lower dosage for equivalent opacity in thin film — cost-neutral vs Standard grade at higher dosage.
Injection Moulding — Thick-Wall Goods (Standard Grade)
2–4%
Thick walls require less TiO₂ for full opacity — lower dosage range effective. Surface colour uniformity more critical than light-blocking.
Agricultural Film — UV Barrier (Ultra-High Opacity Grade)
2–4%
Ultra-high TiO₂ loading maximises UV reflection and heat rejection per unit dosage — combine with UV stabilizer masterbatch for extended outdoor service life.
HDPE Pipe — White Outer Layer
3–5%
Uniform white outer surface with UV protection — particularly important for above-ground irrigation and plumbing pipe applications.
Non-Woven Fabric — PP Spunbond
2–4%
Low dosage sufficient for spunbond whiteness — excess TiO₂ loading can interfere with fibre formation at these processing speeds.

Ask on WhatsApp

White Masterbatch is a concentrated dispersion of Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) pigment in a polyolefin carrier resin. When added to your base resin at 2–8% dosage, TiO₂ particles scatter light — creating opacity (blocking transmission of light through the product) and a brilliant white colour. It also provides UV protection because TiO₂ absorbs and reflects UV radiation. It is used in blown film, woven sacks, injection moulded goods, pipes, agricultural film, and any plastic product requiring white colour, opacity, or UV barrier properties.

Our standard white masterbatch uses Rutile-grade TiO₂. Rutile has a higher refractive index (2.73 vs 2.55 for Anatase), which means greater light scattering, higher opacity per gram, and better UV resistance. Anatase TiO₂ is slightly brighter blue-white in appearance but has lower opacity, poorer UV stability, and can cause chalking or degradation in outdoor-exposed products. We supply Anatase-grade masterbatch on request for specific applications where the blue-white aesthetic is prioritised over durability — for example, indoor packaging, stationery, or products without outdoor exposure.

Choose based on your product's wall thickness and opacity requirement. Standard Grade (40–50% TiO₂) is cost-effective for thick-wall products like woven sacks and injection moulded goods where 4–6% dosage achieves full whiteness. High Opacity Grade (55–65%) is the most popular for blown film — the higher TiO₂ loading means you achieve equivalent opacity at lower dosage (3–5%), which is cost-neutral vs Standard at higher dosage but gives better results in thin films. Ultra-High Opacity Grade (65–70%) is for applications demanding maximum light-blocking at minimum dosage — agricultural film, UV barrier packaging, and premium printed film. Our team recommends the right grade for your specific film thickness and opacity specification.

Yellowing of white masterbatch during processing has four common causes: (1) Processing temperature too high — TiO₂ itself is heat-stable to 280°C, but the carrier resin or other additives may degrade at excessive barrel temperatures. Check your melt temperature is within the masterbatch's specified processing range (180–260°C). (2) Anatase TiO₂ was used instead of Rutile — Anatase can yellow under prolonged UV or thermal exposure. Request a Rutile-grade masterbatch from your supplier. (3) Contamination from the base resin or another additive — check for regrind quality or antioxidant degradation. (4) Extended residence time in the barrel — check screw speed and output rate. Contact our technical team with your specific processing parameters and we'll help diagnose the root cause.

TiO₂-based white masterbatch provides UV absorption and reflection, which gives significant UV barrier performance — particularly at higher dosage levels (4–8%) of the Ultra-High Opacity grade. However, for applications with extended outdoor exposure requirements such as long-life agricultural film (24–36 months), multi-season greenhouse film, or UV-rated construction membranes, TiO₂ alone is not sufficient. A dedicated UV stabilizer masterbatch (HALS-based) should be added alongside the white masterbatch to provide adequate UV stabilisation for polymer chain protection. We can recommend the appropriate UV stabilizer masterbatch to complement our white masterbatch for your specific outdoor durability requirement.

Yes — white masterbatch and CaCO₃ filler masterbatch are routinely used together in blown film and woven sack production. The combination delivers opacity and whiteness (from TiO₂) plus cost reduction and stiffness improvement (from CaCO₃) in a single compound. When using both, the CaCO₃ in the filler masterbatch contributes to the white background — which means a lower white masterbatch dosage is often sufficient. Typical practice: add filler masterbatch first and then calibrate the white masterbatch dosage needed to achieve your target whiteness on top of the CaCO₃ base opacity. Our technical team will advise on the optimal combination ratio for your specific application.

Yes. For new buyers evaluating our white masterbatch, we can provide: (1) A moulded colour chip at your specified dosage in your base resin for visual reference comparison against your current standard. (2) A 1–2 kg pellet sample for running on your actual production machine. Sample and colour chip are dispatched within 48 hours of your inquiry. The colour chip whiteness index is matched to our production batch CoA data — so you see exactly what every production batch will look like before committing to bulk purchase.
