Product Overview

What Is Quicklime Powder (CaO)?

Quicklime Powder, chemically known as Calcium Oxide (CaO), is one of the most widely consumed industrial chemicals in the world. It is produced by calcining high-purity limestone (CaCO₃) in rotary or vertical shaft kilns at temperatures between 900°C and 1200°C, driving off CO₂ to leave behind highly reactive calcium oxide. The result is an extremely alkaline, highly reactive solid that forms the foundation of countless industrial chemical processes.

CHEMICALLANE's Quicklime Powder is manufactured from carefully selected, high-calcite limestone sources, ensuring consistent CaO purity of 90–95% and low MgO and silica levels across every batch. Available in both fine powder (75–150 microns) and lump (10–50 mm) forms, our product is ready for direct use in water treatment dosing systems, lime slakers, steel converters, soil stabilization projects, and industrial chemical processes.

Every batch is tested in-house for CaO content, MgO, SiO₂, loss on ignition, reactivity (T60), and moisture before dispatch. A Certificate of Analysis and full MSDS are provided as standard — not on request.

Chemical Formula: CaO · Molecular Weight: 56.08 g/mol · CaO Purity: 90–95%

Safety Note: Quicklime is a corrosive, exothermic material. It reacts vigorously with water, generating intense heat. Handle with PPE (gloves, goggles, dust respirator). Store in sealed, dry conditions away from moisture. Full MSDS provided with every shipment.

Application Rate Guide

Typical Quicklime Dosage by Industrial Application

Quicklime dosage varies significantly by application and inlet conditions. These are industry-standard reference ranges — actual dosage should be determined by jar testing, titration, or process simulation based on your specific feed water chemistry or process requirements.

Our process engineers can assist with lime dosage calculations for water treatment systems, FGD retrofits, and soil stabilization projects at no additional cost.

Get Custom Dosage Calculation
Water Treatment — pH Correction (pH 6 → 8.5)
50–200 mg/L
Depends on inlet pH, buffering capacity, and target pH. Jar test recommended before full-scale dosing.
Wastewater Treatment — Heavy Metal Precipitation
200–800 mg/L
Higher doses needed for Zn, Pb, Cu, Cr precipitation — typically targets pH 9.5–11.5 for maximum removal efficiency.
Soil Stabilization — Road Sub-base Treatment
3–8% by dry soil weight
Rate depends on soil plasticity index (PI) and target strength. Clay-rich soils require higher dosage.
Steel Making — BOF Slag Forming Flux
40–70 kg per tonne of steel
Added to BOF to achieve basicity index (B2 = CaO/SiO₂) of 3.0–4.5 for effective phosphorus and sulfur removal.
Agriculture — Acidic Soil pH Correction
0.5–3 tonne per hectare
Application rate determined by current soil pH, target pH, and soil buffer capacity. Apply 4–6 weeks before planting.
Flue Gas Desulfurization (Dry / Semi-dry Injection)
Ca/S Molar Ratio 1.5–3.0
Stoichiometric excess typically 1.5–2.5× for dry injection systems to achieve 80–95% SO₂ removal efficiency.

Ask on WhatsApp

Quicklime Powder (Calcium Oxide, CaO) is produced by calcining limestone at 900–1200°C. It is one of the most widely used industrial chemicals in the world, with applications spanning water and wastewater treatment (pH adjustment, heavy metal precipitation), steel manufacturing (flux for slag formation), construction (soil stabilization, lime mortar), agriculture (soil pH correction), chemical processing, and flue gas desulfurization at power plants and cement kilns.

Our Quicklime Powder contains 90–95% Calcium Oxide (CaO) with MgO ≤ 2.5%, SiO₂ ≤ 2.0%, and Al₂O₃ + Fe₂O₃ ≤ 1.5%. High-purity grades (>93% CaO) are available for regulated applications such as pharmaceutical processing, food-grade use, and high-specification water treatment plants. Each batch is chemically analyzed and a Certificate of Analysis is provided before dispatch.

Quicklime (CaO) is the direct product of limestone calcination. Hydrated lime (Ca(OH)₂) is produced by reacting quicklime with water — a process called slaking (CaO + H₂O → Ca(OH)₂ + heat). Quicklime delivers more alkalinity per kg, is faster-reacting, and is more economical for large-scale water treatment and steel applications. Hydrated lime is safer to handle, pre-slaked, and preferred for agriculture, construction plastering, and small-scale treatment where controlled dosing of a stable product is preferred.

We supply Quicklime in two primary forms: (1) Fine Powder — 75 to 150 microns (100 mesh), suitable for chemical dosing systems, water treatment injection, FGD dry scrubbing, and agricultural spreading; and (2) Lump Grade — 10 to 50 mm, ideal for rotary kiln and shaft kiln lime slakers, steel converter charging, and road construction projects. Custom mesh sizes and coarser grades can be arranged for specific process requirements — contact us with your specification.

Quicklime must be stored in sealed, moisture-proof containers in a dry, covered area away from all water sources, drainage, and high-humidity environments. Contact with water triggers an exothermic slaking reaction that generates intense heat and degrades CaO purity. Our HDPE bags with inner PE liners provide primary protection, but opened bags must be resealed immediately after use. Shelf life is 6 months in sealed storage. Full safety and storage instructions are included in the MSDS supplied with every consignment.

We supply in 25 kg and 50 kg moisture-proof HDPE woven bags with sealed inner PE liners. For high-volume buyers, 500 kg and 1000 kg jumbo bags are available. All packaging is moisture-sealed to prevent premature slaking and CaO purity loss during transport and storage. FTL (full truck load) and LTL supply options are both available depending on your volume.

Yes, CHEMICALLANE delivers Quicklime Powder to 100+ cities across India including India, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat (Ahmedabad, Surat, Vapi), Maharashtra (Mumbai, Pune, Nashik), Telangana (Hyderabad), Tamil Nadu (Chennai), West Bengal (Kolkata), and Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal, Indore). Standard bulk orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days from order confirmation.
